The rush of exams is finished. It is now time to make up for lost TV show viewing time. I chose my 5 best shows on Netflix : Riverdale, Quantico, 13 Reasons Why, Narco, and House of Cards.
1.Riverdale
Riverdale is a 13 episode original Netflix show. Netflix puts one new episode per week. This weekly showing is frustrating ; we always want to know what happens next, but we must wait for next week’s episode. The first seconds of the first episode begin with Jason Blossom’s corpse. Archie and his friends, the town of Riverdale investigate the murder. We see interactions between main characters about love, lies, and friends in a high school environment. There are rumors about a second season of Riverdale.
*They are the same characters as Archie’s comics.
2. Quantico
There are two seasons of Quantico, but only the first season of 22 episodes is available on Netflix. A new recruit arrives at Quantico Base in Virginia to become an FBI agent. Nine months later, Alexandra Parrish is suspected to have put a bomb at Grand Central Station, New York. The new recruit wants to prove her innocence and at the same time she to find the guilty bomber. It’s one of the rare American show that breaks stereotypes. Priyanka Chopra (Alexandra Parrish), an Indian actress, she takes on the first role in Quantico. Again, It’s more rare to see a woman of foreign descent taking on a role of a non-terrorist.
3. 13 Reasons Why
Hannah Baker killed herself, everyone at her school is in mourning. Her friend, Clay, receives a box of cassettes on which are recorded Hannah Braker’s messages before she killed herself. In this show, we discover the 13 reasons why she killed herself. This show provokes a lot of reactions and reflexions on social media and newspaper about bullying.
4. Narcos
It’s the life of narcotic dealers, but the first two seasons concentrate more on Pablo Escobar. The third season will focus on Cali drug cartel. It’s the struggle of the Colombian and American cartels. There are several points of view, personal, political, judicial, and bio-medical. This show seems real because we see some sort of archives. Narcos attracts an average of 3,2 million viewers[1]
5. House of Card
House of Cards is an adaptation of the BBC’s mini-series of the same name. This official Netflix series has 4 seasons. The fifth season will be available on May 31st , 2017. This show has won two Golden Globes and 4 Emmy Awards[1]. A ruthless politician doesn’t stop at anything to conquer Washington. Frank Underwood really wants the power; blackmail and seduction are part of the strategy. Personally, it was difficult at the beginning to adapt as the first character speaks directly to the camera. He breaks the 4th wall. After 3 or 4 episodes, you do adapt because you understand his personality better.
You can’t stop watching these shows because each episode ends with an never ending plot. So, Those are my top 5 best tv shows on Netflix. Use the comment box to tell me which series you prefer.
